Love to you Lemmy

"He told me when he turned 50 years old, "I've lived the perfect life, Mikkey. If I die tomorrow, I'll die a happy man." And after that, he got another 20 years! He lived 70 years on his terms, and I want to celebrate that." - Mikkey Dee

Rick Wright - A Pink Floyd Tribute

Richard Wright - The Great Rick In The Sky

Beautiful collection of many of  Ricks Wrights finest live moments and studio outakes thoughout Floyds greatest years. The sources are of course, varied, as well as the bit rates. But all are presented here within the EX range.
I personally still can't get over Rick's passing. Such an unsung hero within the Floyds, and so essential to their sound. A quiet man who was enjoying a new lease on life playing alongside long time band mate and friend, David Gilmour, during his own solo revival. If one thing is for certain, Ricks passing has once and for all laid to rest any possibility of a true Pink Floyd reunion.
Play on Rick.

Watched this for the first time tonight, thought I must share. For those who have not seen this magnificent performance by Santana in their prime (my opinion), a must watch. Troll alert, to avoid bummers, enjoy the show and exit. Idiot comments are not worthy.

** Original Notes**
Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978.  His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity.  In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes.  He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings.  In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.

He recorded many of the major 70's bands:  Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.

Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated.  Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes.  No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers.  Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.

Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community.  Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.

The transfers are available as 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning, and also as 24bit/96KHz flac files for those who prefer the higher resolution.

Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

This is a totally manic and very hot and high-strung concert board rec of the group in an experimental phase. Ratnam sounds a screw or two lose, especially in "Bel Air" when he begins screaming "DESTRUCTION.. DEEESTRUUCTIOOOOOOOON!!"
"Vitamin C" sadly fades before it can really rev up. Nonetheless it's a favorite Can show for me, and I hope everyone will enjoy this revision as much as I do.

Share the music, and enjoy!

RE-UP Pink Floyd Live Nassau 1975 3 Discs

CD Reference:
New York 17.6.75, One Day Closer To Death, Nassau Day 2

Comments:
One of those rare hot summer nights for the Pink Floyd.
Echoes is jazzy, even funky a bit at the beginning too.
Dave laughs but doesn't screw up.
Performance wise this is easily in the top 3 for 1975,
and soundwise it's up there with Boston and the rest
(maybe not quite L.A.).
So this might just be your best bet for a good 75 show.
Dark Side is well performed too.
A beauty from 1975

Jethro Tull Live At The LA Forum 1972-06-23 Master AUD reel-to-reel - a true Doinker/Tooleman conspiracy with artwork by G The Cock, plus a 78 minute "Brick"... what more could you ask for?

nuff said...

This fantastic, fabulous, unbelievable show has not really been heard until now. The master reel was recorded on a unit with weak batteries. As the show progressed, the reels slowed down. So, the pitch speeded up. Four semitones up...

It sometimes takes a lot to get me motivated to send things off. I don't know if any of you have ever had this experience: You make a trade with someone, you send, but you never receive? I had been burned so many times with false promises, that I really didn't want to part with this under any circumstances.

But, I have to tell you, The TooleMan is one helluva dude. Not only did he keep his promises about doing the work, he has graciously allowed me to seed as well. Not does that only benefit us, it benefits you as well. Hey guy! Want more?

The artwork is specially created for you as well by G The Cock, one of Dime's premier artwork makers... A very big thank you!!!!

Pink Floyd - 1970-04-29 - Westworld (Sigma 4)
Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA - April 29th, 1970

Disc 1:

1. Grantchester Meadows (7:00)

2. Astronomy Domine (10:23)
3. Cymbaline (11:34)
4. Atom Heart Mother (20:22)
5. The Embryo (11:34)

Disc 2:

1. Green Is The Colour (4:36)

2. Careful With That Axe, Eugene (11:37)
3. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun (15:48)
4. A Saucerful Of Secrets (22:41)
5. Interstellar Overdrive (15:51)

The 2-CD Westworld, the fourth release of the Pink Floyd label Sigma, is an outstanding recording of the very popular soundboard recording of the live show at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA on April 29th, 1970, which had been previously released numerous times on CD on titles such as Interstellar Encore (Pigs on the Wing OMS 002/3), Pink Pigs Over Fillmore West (Euro Boots EB-30), Magic Makes The World Go Round (Moonage Daydream Records), and Fillmore (Highland HL642/643). On each of the first 3 titles, approx. the first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” are unfortunately missing, as it starts with a fade-in. On Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, however, these first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls” have been patched in from a slightly inferior recording to make it complete, as one can hear the sound quality suddenly improve a little at approx. 3:00 into the track.

So at least we have the complete show without any edits.

As for the sound quality of Sigma’s Westworld, it’s certainly superb, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be any better than that of Highland’s Fillmore, which seems to be only a very slight upgrade over the other 3 titles mentioned above (the last one, Moonage Daydream Records’ Magic Makes The World Go Round, has a normalization issue since its bonus tracks are noticeably louder than those of its Fillmore West ‘70 show). In fact, if given a choice between Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, I would probably choose the latter over the former because it seems to sound a tiny bit crisper. Other than that, any noticeable or significant differences between the two couldn’t be identified.

As most Floyd fans know, this excellent early ‘70 performance was actually concluded with 2 brilliant encores, “A Saucerful of Secrets” and “Interstellar Overdrive”, and the latter is actually not from the same soundboard source as the rest of the show, unfortunately being sourced from an audience recording of that same night. But the drop-off in sound quality going from “Saucerful” to “Interstellar” is only so slightly that it may even go unnoticed by some listeners.

The artwork of Westworld is fine, with Sigma having used classy-looking glossy inserts again.
But overall it’s recommended only to those who are looking for the complete version of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” that includes its first 3 minutes and/or sound quality that’s just a little bit better than that of the earlier releases, such as the 3 titles mentioned above. Or, if you’re like (actress) Nancy McKeon and don’t even have the Fillmore West ‘70 show at all in your personal collection, then you shouldn’t wait to get Sigma’s Westworld, or Highland’s Fillmore as an alternative choice that’s pretty much just as great, if not a tiny bit greater. (D.Lee)

This audio is not from a DVD transfer. This recording

comes straight from a DAT transfer from the master
reels.

This is the story I was told when I received

this recording. During the mastering of the
KQED DVD, an employee and avid music fan had
access to the master reels. Not wanting to let
this moment pass, he managed to make a copy.
From there other copies were distributed from his
master copy. This recording was taken directly from
his master copy. I received this from a friend of a
friend who knew I was a huge Pink Floyd fan and
audio enthusiast. I was asked if I had ever heard
of a KQED television session? At that time I had not.
I'm told he can get me a copy of the audio. At this
point in time I was highly skeptical. A few weeks
later I received an overnight delivery. And the rest
is history.

Too bad you greedy bootleggers can't get a hold

of my master copy. Set the music free. I hope everyone
enjoys my efforts.
