This is my first post on the Traders Den so I thought I would make it a good one!
Well here it is at last the lost tape from the 18th July Hyde Park 1970 - this is the genuine article.
It is a shame that this recording is not complete as it is missing Atom Heart Mother.

01 Blues
02 The Embryo
03 Green Is The Colour
04 Careful With That Axe, Eugene
05 Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun

I was contacted by the guy who taped the show and this is a transfer direct from his master tape.
The transfer was carried out as follows: -
The transfer was made on 10th September 2005 from the master BASF L-C60 cassette
Transfer made as follows: -
Nakamichi ZX-7 cassette deck.

Manual adjustment to height and azimuth of playback head to match that of the original tape recorder and to optimise the sound.
Direct connection to analogue input of Audiophile 2496 soundcard via high quality Clicktronic interconnects with 24K gold plugs.
Recording made to Wav file at 44.1kHz
I fixed a few pops so that I could normalise the recording but apart from that this is an unaltered version of this show

The sound quality ranges from good to very good, there are some microphone "nudge" noises and some wind noise.

The show was recorded using a mono Phillips cassette recorder with a microphone mounted on a 6 foot pole. The taper, David, was sat about 100 meters from the stage to the left of centre. Overall the recording quality is mostly very good. Some wind noise is picked up by the microphones and also the quality of the sound changes due to wind "blowing the sound around". Occasionally there is a little distortion but really nothing to complain about considering how this show was taped.

If anybody has a genuine version of Atom Heart Mother from this show then please contact me.

Hi to all
Welcome to my series of mostly uncirculated masters & very low generation shows that i recorded or received in trades in my younger days most of my masters
have not been circulated or only traded once or twice i used to trade a lot in the 70s - 80s & i have many many shows well in excess of 7,500 tapes
Of these shows about 120 - 150 are  my masters they where always on my trading list but not many got traded so i boxed them all up in the late 80s now i have
decided to go through them  & upload some of them.
I recorded many bands from Genesis – Bowie – Springsteen  - Hawkwind  - Hackett – Gabriel – Marillion plus many many others i will try & upload a least
one  show a week if not two.
To record theses shows i used a Sony portable hand held tape recorder with built in stereo mics.  I always used good quality tapes to record on mainly T.D.K.
I used to insert the tape deck in a empty coffee flask with the inside taken out of the flask to get past the security ah those where the days.
The only thing i ask is please don’t sell these recording & don’t convert to mp3 etc & if you do ( only for your own use ).  Please don’t change any of the files or
info files etc this is so that people can tell the difference between this source & other sources as many people like to compare different versions of shows.
Also please do not remaster these shows the reason for this is these days there are far to many remasters of shows. Its ok have one remaster etc, but some are
remastered that many times by different people there can be at least 10 different remasters of a show from the same source & it can get a bit tedious.

Many many thanks to the trader for sending me a copy & To the taper for taping the show.

I hope you enjoy this show please ask if you want to upload it to other sites as i will be uploading these shows to a couple of other torrent sites.

As Usual Please dont convert to mp3 ( only for your own use if you do ) Please Keep all the info files md5 etc in the folder tis is so that
other collectors know which version this is etc most of all DO NOT SELL
Please also buy the bands offical stuff and support them etc.
Thanks to all the Artists for there great music and to all the traders for keeping live music alive

Friends here´s a real excellent sounding Audience recording from a great TYA show!
I saw them in Ludwigshafen during the same tour, on March 8th and it was the first big concert,  I ever saw!
Besides their great playing I remember very well, that me & my friend were really surprised to see that Rick Lee´s drumkit seemed to be the smallest set of drums we ever had seen with a top Act ( sure we had seen a lot others by watching TV)! To us, hís playing  sounded as he had one of the biggest drumkits, anyway......................

The concert here is unfortunately incomplete, but recorded from the same taper who also recorded
the fantastic sounding Santana Freiburg 1972 show and in most parts this TYA show sounds superb!
The Blues songs here are outstanding.

Sourced by Steve Blank and Brett Pfieffer
Artwork by Ken Brankin, aka Tweak.

This is a compilation of tracks remastered and
re-released by MoLM to resurrect the incomplete
4Feb77 Zurich Hallenstadion performance.  Much of
Dogs, all of Pigs and most of SoYCD6-9 were missing
from the low generation 4Feb77 source.

There are a number of qualities that make this show so
interesting to have and listen to.  The taper is very
close to the stage, and the recording has some of the
fullest sound you'll hear from the '77 tour.  The "prayer
sequence" from Sheep is one of the clearest, most audible
version in circulation.  Dave's solos during Pigs (3d.o.)
and SoYCD(1-5) are remarkable in their quality and intensity,
which also sets this apart from some of the other '77
roios.  This version of WYWH is also one of the better
performances going.

MoLM chose the "filler tracks" from the two Berlin and
Vienna concerts for several reasons, including similar sound
quality, recording levels, and audience noise. The 29Jan77
tracks are from "Animals from the Soundboard", the 30Jan77
performance of Pigs (3 d.o.) is from "Absolut Floyd," and
SoYCD6-9 is from 1Feb77 Vienna Stadhalle.

Remastering work included spending lots of time blending
tracks to make this roio a "complete" concert, some minor
speed correction, recording level adjustments and de-clicking.
All tracks are from the lowest generation sources available.

Like any roio, it certainly has its flaws. In terms of the
performance, while some passages are clearly inspired, the
band also commits some obvious errors as well.  Probably the
most annoying aspect of this show is that "close to the stage"
means some unwelcome bass distortion.  Either that, or the
speakers were right on top of the taper.  There are cuts or
gaps in PotW2 and WttM. Potw2 also has some speed problems
that are not worth trying to correct.  The encore, Money, is
missing about one minute of its beginning.  The show came with
only about three minutes of Dogs, and about seven minutes of
SoYCD(6-9).  Neither track could be saved.  Pigs was totally
missing.

A few words about Roger's "numbering" of shows.  Obviously,
since Pigs (3do) is missing, it's hard to say for sure what
number this show is.  However, if one were to speculate, it
would likely be "9".  After quite a bit of research, here's
what I can tell you about the numbered shows of that early
string of Animals concerts:

29Jan77 Berlin is number "5"
30Jan77 Berlin is number "6"
01Feb77 Vienna is also number "6" (Rog goofed a few times)
03Feb77 Zurich is number "8"
17Feb77 Rotterdam is number "10".

Finally, if you don't have the following checksums in the
MD5 shn program, then you don't have a genuine original
MoLM release:

Set one, disc one:

*101_4Feb77_Sheep
*102_4Feb77_PotW1
*103_29Jan77_Dogs
*104_4Feb77_PotW2
*105_30Jan77_Pigs(3do)

Set two, disc two:

*201_4Feb77_SoYCD1
*202_4Feb77_WttM
*203_4Feb77_HaC
*204_4Feb77_WYWH
*205_1Feb77_SoYCD2
*206_4Feb77_Money

Most of all, ENJOY THE SHOW!

Shine on,

Review from the TV show:
As the first anniversary of the late night TV rockers approaches, and the news of prime time music shows also breaks, it’s equally exciting to see the first attempts at screening entire shows built around strongest pop stars. ABC-TV’s " In Concert" has been first through the gate with "Moon and Stars," screened November 6 in the series' usual late night slot.

The Stevens special pointed up both the inherent strengths of such an approach, and a few of the pitfalls. Viewers were treated to a portrait of Stevens’ music of unusual depth, as Stevens moved through material from various phases of his recording career since joining A&M’s roster. The quality of the stereo-FM track for simulcast was excellent. Showcasing the possible technical heights this medium could reach, and both Stevens and a superb back-up including stalwarts Alun Davies,
Jean Roussel and Gerry Conway, long time Stevens collaborators, made that aspect of the show more than just a technical triumph.

Visually, the show was also a tasteful effort, free from the surplus of quick cutting and "action" slots that have often plagued rock on television and proved distracting rather than compelling. The current addiction to star filters – that turn points of light on the image into prismatic flares – was probably the only flaw here, being rather overused.

Yet, the show itself hit many lulls, despite some strong changes of pace provided by Linda Rondstadt and Dr. John. Each performing a Stevens' composition, and by one of the show’s highlights, an excellent animated version of Stevens’ drawings of Teaser and the Firecat riding an moonshadow (and naturally framed by that song). The shows flow was broken by the necessary flurry of commercial breaks. Late night shows have long been plagued by those breaks, but here it was the sheer frequency that proved the problem.

Stevens is a dark and quiet personality and the show was virtually without any spoken comment. While small screen addicts might have been disappointed by the lack of chatter, it was a refreshing departure from the usual inanity of forced conversations that are often included to provide humor or personality. There may well be artists who in such a special could talk to us as well; Stevens seemed more comfortable just singing and it helped give the show a more natural feel.

Cat Stevens broke a guitar string in the middle of a song and the jam-packed audience at theIn Concert Songbook Aquarius Theater in Hollywood applauded the full 55 seconds it took him to replace it. And when the British superstar politely asked director Joshua White if he could do one song over again for the cameras, the audience went wild.

That’s how eager the hundreds of Cat Stevens fans were to groove on his music.

The memorable occasion was the taping of the "In Concert" segment starring Cat Stevens, on the ABC Television Network’s "ABC Wide World of Entertainment." The show marks Stevens’ American television debut and is his first American appearance in a year.

His powerful performance put to rest rumors that the 25-year old star’s absence from the stage was due to a recurrence of the respiratory ailment that hospitalized him several years ago.

It was the inevitable conflict between art and commercialism that eventually took its toll on the young singer-composer, who was born Steve Georgiou. Following instant stardom at the age of 17, came the unending TV interviews, recording sessions, performance dates, tension, hassling and bad feelings.

Recalling those turbulent days, Stevens says, "I used to dread recording. For days I’d worry and think about that studio, full of blank, uncaring, bored session men who were going to play my music.

"And every time, in would go my music and out would come their music — technically perfect and perfectly antiseptic. It was my music and they would kill me with it."

During his convalescence Stevens came to grips with the problem that so often plagues creative artists.

"Once you’re a success it becomes very difficult to judge things; people love anything you do," he says. "But it’s important for me to try new things, different things, even if they fail."

When Stevens left the hospital and returned to a recording studio he was assured complete artistic integrity. He came out with "Mona Bone Jakon" (1969), an album that swept across Europe and rose into the Top Ten in France. He played to sellout crowds in Holland and Germany, and did a national television concert in Paris.

This year, Stevens recorded "Foreigner," the first album on which he is also producer, and the LP is currently rising to the top of the charts. It features "Foreigner Suite," an 18-minute tour de force he performs on "In Concert."

CAN - Edinburgh 1973 (Damo's Last)

CAN
-----
Empire Theatre, Edinburgh
25th August 1973

FLAC

Lineage: *Original Notes
Cassette received by 'wreka' (thanks!) in 1976, believed to be early generation SBD or
AUD copy from the recordings made at most live performances by Holger Czukay. Given that
clearly some of this is the same mix / quality as the earlier Edinburgh SBD post...
http://thewitchwoodrecords.blogspot.ca/2013/04/can-damos-last-live-1973.html
...whilst in other parts, there is clearly audience talk / clapping audible, allied to
slight but clear quality, mix, volume and balance shifts, my thought is that this may be
a skillfully edited combination of both SBD and AUD sources.

Quality: Must be worth an A+ for the performance and the vintage
------------------------------------------------------------------

Dimer 'wreka' sent me several Can recordings for remastering, this one being the rest of
the Edinburgh concert, a companion to the remastered boot I posted recently and may
never have been posted before, although I include details (above) of changes made just
in case it has.

I don't think I've ever heard any Can where Holger's bass playing is so clear, showing
it to be just as simple / complex as Jaki's drums, if you understand what I mean, whilst
apparently leading the shifts and changes in the music. It gives me a much enhanced
understanding of his hidden (to me) value and contribution to the overall band sound.

There seem to be two sources here, where the level of both Damo's and Michael's
contributions in the mix changes, but not the others, so there was a limit to changes I
could make. The overall sound - and the exact same change settings as the previous set -
make it certain to me they are the remaining Edinburgh set.

There is probably a third source for the overdubs as they still contain more
noise and there are quite audible tape (pinch wheel?) flutter defects, but I've left
them in as they do seem to have the same original sound / mix as the others so are
probably Edinburgh recordings.

The overall result is still a fabulous and rare listen so grab it quick and...

...Enjoy (TomP)
