Pink Floyd - Frankfurt 1977

Pink Floyd - Mega-rare restored vinyl
"A Mysterie Called Floyd" - Frankfurt Festhalle 1977-01-27
AUD, Speed corrected (mp3 sample included)

*Original Notes
I've always thought this boot had a terrible sound quality.
But upon checking I found the speed to be running way too
fast. What you get (once it's running right that is) is a
fairly nice recording of a great performance. If you like
the "Animals" album, you might be playing this one over and
over again. As always, listen to the sample before
downloading.

Setlist (run time about 45 mins)

Folks the quality of this show is stunning for the year and the fact that you get the whole
Thick As A Brick suite only goes to say download me

notes from the the person who originally had this show

When i acquired this recording i was surprised the quality was as good as it was for
a show from 1972 unfortunately with about 5.45 to go on thick as a brick there was a screeching sound and then the show went on but
clearly something was missing.after comparing it to other TAAB performances i found that
approx 40 seconds was missing.this little glitch detracted so much from the ending of this TAAB
performance that i chose to splice in the missing segment with the performance from 3 days
earlier off the soft venus bootleg.i hope the purists will forgive me.

unquote.
Of course we forgive him this is a stunning show.

Comments:
A long, strange trip for this gem.  It ended up in our intrepid hero's hands as the surprise diamond in a trade.

In his own words--

"The person who I received this show from was not able to provide me with any useful information. He actually told me it was from a radio show in 1967 with the songs Astronomy Domine and Green is the Colour among others. There was no artwork, just multi-colored stick on labels with the name Pink Floyd, the letters CWRU, and 1967 on them. When I inquired about the source he just said that he was glad I liked it. Further inquiries were given answers unrelated to the question or not answered at all... Either he was just reluctant to reveal anything or was just unaware of what it was he had."

So for once we have no lineage information for you. However what we do have is an amazing and complete document of the Floyd in their prime giving us an utterly stunning performance. Of special note is the "jam sessions" mid-song that seems to take place during each track. FOS gets a bit of a Beatlee-sque/Abbey Road type of treatment, Set The Controls is a free for all about half way through, and is that a bow solo ala Jimmy Page during the break during One Of These Days?  Careful With That Axe is full of angst and just... well, rocks! Echoes is perfect as well! Finally, we get a rare treat with Blues included for good measure.

As a result of our cleanup efforts there's great definition of the instruments and you can hear some things that I know I've never heard before in these live recordings. These surprises make this one a keeper and a welcome addition to the collection.

Technical Notes:
It looks as though some NR was performed in the past as part of the upper end has been completely removed (from 165000 Hz -22050 Hz).

but this is all that is circulated.Wonderful show, and the quality is very nice.
One of the minority of commercial roios that I actually like...
and so far this is indeed the best source available for this date.
The stereo perspective on this tape is amazing!  Not much hiss
noticeable (due, of course, to the 2nd gen tape used), but the loudest
volumes are slightly distorted...otherwise great overall.

It is said that Paul Hammond and John DuCann left the band before this show. These two were on the LP "In Hearing Of", but left soon after the recording of that album (in 1971) to form another band, Daemon. Hammond had actually taken over Parnell's spot in August 1970 (after Parnell took over Carl Palmer's) -- but when Hammond departed, Parnell was brought back into the fold (in the interim Parnell was in a band called Horse).
Ric Parnell later went on to find fame as Mick Shrimpton in the movie 'This Is Spinal Tap'.
Steve Bolton later played in the Who. Pete French (vocals, formerly of Cactus) departed to form Leaf Hound...

(Warning-Pretty rough recording. But still very listenable! Being as their's so few recordings of this band, why not post it?)

Comments: A very nice audience recording, very little tape hiss. Source unknown, but very
clean and unedited. SQ rates an EX-

Roger absolutely loses it during 'In The Flesh', screaming out his rant at the crowd.
Absolutely charged, perhaps the best ITF I've ever heard. After 'Pros & Cons', Roger can't
resist saying "thank you for coming, you've been a very nice audience . . . considering."
Considering what, Roger?

Someone graciously offered me this little golden nugget to torrent. Donated anonymously in
order to protect future trading sources.

Reportedly taken from the soundboard of the gig, this is a passage from Povey's ITF book on
that performance:

"Hilversum 3 Radio were recording this show for a future broadcast, but after a microphone
failure early in the show the band were forced to perform an instrumental set and as a
result the show was never broadcast"

So we've got a short set of 4 numbers with absolutely no vocals, but the SQ is amazing,
even before you take the age of the recording into consideration.

In celebration of the ten-year anniversary of the White Stripes album Elephant, Third Man
has gone searching underneath couch cushions and in shady back alleys for the perfect Vault
package to accompany the label’s reissue of the album.
Of utmost excitement is a 2 x LP blistering live set by the White Stripes recorded July 2nd
,2003 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.

Titled Nine Miles From the White City, this 26-song, 79-minute, tour-de-force performance
is indicative of the absolute explosiveness Jack and Meg embodied at the height of their
2003 touring. Highlights include a rare live performance of Captain Beefheart’s
“Party of Special Things to Do”, an especially frenetic “The Hardest Button to Button” as
well as the Stripes Christmas tune ”Candy Cane Children.” Hearing “Seven Nation Army” in
the middle of a set (and not as a closer or encore where it would soon find itself for the
remainder of the band’s career) is a quaint reminder of the inauspicious beginnings of the
future stadium anthem.  The crystalline soundboard recording is best experienced through
the impromptu, off-the-cuff performance of a song written on-the-spot that would be come
to called “Little Cream Soda.” The song would be re-discovered (via an audience recording)
by Jack and Meg during the recording of their album Icky Thump, dusted off and recorded for
what would become the White Stripes final studio album.

ELP - Live 1971/ 72

Emerson Lake And Palmer - Live 3LP Box Set Live 1971 - 1972 ( From LP ) ( DavrosLP003 )

*Original Notes

Welcome to my torrents of shows taken direct from bootleg LPs that i have collected over the past 35 years.
I have kept the running order of the shows true to how they appear on the LP.
I have not altered the recordings in any way except De-clicking where it was needed.
I have kept them has Side 1 - Side 2 etc but made the transition seemless where possible between the different side's if you play the whole file in a player like
foobar2000 etc.

Linage :-  Boot Lp - Project Record Deck - Yamaha Reciever - Phono Leads Into PC Soundcard - Nero Wave Editor -
Wav - Tracks split - Traders Little Helper - Flac6 - SBE Checked - You.

All Uploads inc md5 files / Info files / Frequency Analysis

Right, on with the shows.

This is a 3LP Box set i have had since the late 70s there is some debate as to where it was recorded.
I have been told / looked up the following
Side 1 - 2 - 3 - 4   Some say recorded at the Drury Lane Theatre, London June 20. 1971/06/20 Or
                             Stadthalle, Karlsruhe 1971/06/01

The 4 Side's are exactly the same concert as the boot double LP "Sukrat" and the double LP "The Palms"
which are said to be from the London concert .
But many ELP collectors say they are from the Karlrushe concert.

Side 5 - 6  clearly they are from a 1972 concert that is unknown but ive been told could possiblly be from
1972-06-07  Hamburg

Of course if anyone can comfirm the concerts it would be great

Side 1  01. Pictures At An Exhibition. ( Promanade omitted by the bootleggers ).

Side 2  02. Pictures At An Exhibiton ( Ctd ).

Side 3  03. Take A Pebble  ( Last section omitted by the bootleggers ).

Side 4  04. Knife Edge.
            05. Rondo.
            06. Nutrocker.

Side 5  07. The Endless Enigma. ( Cover Says Trilogy )
            08. Hoedown. ( Cover Says The Endless Enigma )

Side 6  09. Tarkus.

Hope you enjoy !
