*Original Notes*

I got this one in a trade, so I'm simply reporting back the comments that are in the original text file:

Comments:
Complete show, and the second date of the Floyd's 1977 North American Tour.
The 'Intro' has all of the opening sound effects, a relative rarity for 1977 audience recordings -- church bells, sheep, etc; quite interesting. The tape also captures most of the interlude between the second set and the encore.
There is a cut 0:27 into 'Pigs On the Wing Pigs (Pt. 1)' which is in the original recording. Perhaps the taper didn't particulary care for the tune and thought he'd save some tape? 'Part 2' is very sweet, especially Snowy's solo. Roger clearly yells "31" at 4:33 into 'Pigs 3DO'.
'Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-5)' starts with what sounds like a gong, while Rick's opening bit is as eerie as ever. There's a dropout at 12:04 into the track, which sounds as if the taper was having a problem with his tape deck. Gilmour, as usual, performs yeoman's work during 'Shine On (Pts. 6-9)'. Gilmour's guitar during 'Money' is as spacey as I've ever heard him play this song.
Quality is VG+ to EX-, with some clipping that could be removed at the highest volumes.
Overall, a nice show . . . no thanks to the guy next to the taper who couldn't help himself from yelling "wooo" at various times throughout the show.

  2. I was at this show and on the field. People have often wondered why we didn't get ‘Careful With That Ax, Eugene’ as an additional encore number like most of the stops on the tour did. Most bootlegs include it, and if you get it on yours, it's added from another show. All we got was ‘Money’. The problem was, there was a 30 minute extended delay after the original 20 minute intermission period. The huge round screen that had behind the stage teetered off its base while being blasted by the high winds we had that day, so it took them quite a while to fix it.
Gilmour actually came out that afternoon before the show srarted while they were setting up the stage. I noticed him long before many of the others in my crowd did. He just looked different than the other roadies up there, with his super long hair, cool threads and mirrored aviation shades. He strolled over and picked up an ax, and then started jamming to The Doors ‘Roadhouse Blues’ that they were playing over the PA! At first he seemed to be just another guitar technician, until he started to play. It didn't take long for the rest of the Floyd fans at Tampa Stadium to get with it after that. He jammed awhile and then just smiled at the crowd, put down his guitar and split.
Damn good show all-in-all, though. Especially those holographic light images that they were shooting over our heads. Everyone had their hands up at the same time trying to catch them.... A good memory. Especially since three weeks later, my father kicked me out of the house for good and I had to go live in a delapatated old trailer for a year! Youth is good.... : )

    1. Awesome. It's good to hear actual accounts, it helps to fill in the blanks, like "Eugene". Great story, thank you.

  3. I was at this show!!! Was down on the field about 20 yards from the stage. My first of 10 Pink Floyd shows. The sound system that they used in quadrophenic sound was incredible. I will always Renner the dogs barking off in the distance. Made me feel like I was out in the country. Course the purple microdot might have had something to do with that as well. One of my best memories in life!
